I use pastel to create large-scale drawings of things we see everyday but rarely notice. Currently I am creating work revolving around what is taken for granted or overlooked in our lives. My drawings provide macro-views, focusing on everyday objects people rarely take the time to see for their aesthetic qualities. Giving the viewer a macro view, I am able to abstract the subject enough to entice interest. I try to get right to the essence of what I am looking at. I focus on nothing but what is before me, the texture and character we so often miss in our daily rush. Things that are in our environment on a daily basis become invisible to our eyes. I invite the viewer to take the time to pause, take a breath, and truly see the world around them.
